Hmmm...is this community alive anymore?
I actually kind of forgot about this community! I'd like to get it active again, perhaps we could start doing a monthly challenge or something to promote activity, or certain theme challenges?

If anyone is still even watching this community, comment here, maybe we could get the moderator to start something, or see if we could vote on a new mod to re-animate this corpse of a community.

But for now, I have some pictures for you guys.

Composition Book Covered with Duct Tape
My wife and I love all the things you can create with duct tape.  One day, we decided to cover composition books/journals with duct tape for our kids.  They carried them around and gave them to friends and teachers as gifts.  Here's an example of one:

Blue and Metallic Silver Duct Tape Journal with Cross

We received so many comments about them, we decided to make them available for anyone to order on the web (at www.ducttapejournals.com.)   I'm curious to hear what you all think?

A New Addition to the Community
So, I have taken, lately, to considering myself a "duct tape artist" because of the many new duct tape creations I've been... creating lately :/

So I have a deviantart account with some of my stuff: http://keeleydawson.deviantart.com

Here's a preview of my Pagemaster Purse:

And here's a preview of some bows I made:

I've also been doing posters of duct tape...

Challenges anyone? I'm always looking for new duct tape art ideas.

Sticky mess?
Hi there. I am looking for some advice on how to avoid the sticky mess that my wallet ended up in. I made a duct tape wallet and used some smaller pieces of duct tape to make a picture on the outside of the wallet. After it living in my back pocket for a few months, a gummy residue started to form around the cut out pieces. Any idea how to avoid this? I want to make a wallet as a gift but don't want the recipient to end up with a sticky mess.

Thanks in advance.

Duct Tape Super Hero Costume
My wife and I attend science fiction and fan related conventions throughout the year. The last Con we went to was this past Halloween and someone joking made the comment of since I am such a "redneck" (see Jeff Foxworthy's definition) "Why don't I make up some costumes out of Duct Tape" And the idea was born. A couple months of researching the interwebs, about $100 of Duct Tape (and related items) later......

The Duct Tape super hero was born. The Cape, Skirt, Mask, and Corset are nearly 99.9% Duct Tape!
Along with the armbands and Boot Accents. (I am also working on her "Super Weapon" a 12' bull whip color coordinated to match the costume and of course made from Duct Tape.)

(I am thinking maybe a little trimming of the mask to show more of her face.)

Duck tape whip
This is a 12ft duck tape bullwhip I made. I made one before this one but it wasn't very good so I improved on the design and its just as good as a real whip.
I'm selling them for:
regular 8ft $150, 10ft $180, 12ft $215
biggie size 8ft $200, 10ft $230, 12ft $265
The whip in the picture and the video is the biggie size its thicker and heavier so its louder, so loud that it'll make your ears ring sometimes.
The regular size will be the standard thickness of a whip.
I can make them in any of the standard duck tape colors and can do either one color or two color or all four strands different colors
for any info or to place an order please email me at patrickwestlake@yahoo.com
Look at it in all it's awesomenessCollapse )

Patterned tapes
So I recently discovered two VERY awesome duct tape finds: Tie Dye and Plaid duct tape! The only downside is that they're 10 yards (as opposed to 20) for the same price as plain colored duct tape :(

Hippie flowers and grunge wallets behind the cutCollapse )

Hope you guys are as excited as I am!

Black and white clutch for Danielle

This is a fairly small (I'd say about....4 x 7) clutch just for holding papers, dollar bills, maybe even a checkbook? I tried a couple new things here, one being lining the entirety of the inside with fabric. The other being a clasp. You can't really see the bottom part, but the top part is in the center on the top picture.

Hope you guys like it :)

I was challenged a little over 2 weeks ago by AraisPoetry to do a peacock in duct tape, and I know it's been awhile and you guys were probably losing faith in me, but it's done! Let me know what you guys think of the finished product!

new wallet

My old duct tape wallet has served well for almost 9 months. So today I made the ugliest one I could to replace it. You can't tell from the picture but that orange is day glow orange. If I hunted this would be the coolest wallet ever. But I don't so it just looks dorky.

Go Now, and Live

Just something I threw together. I'm looking for critique, as this is generally a style I don't do things in. I honestly covered a 16 x 20 canvas in light blue duct tape and went from there. Hope you guys like it :)

Coming up next: Peacock!

Nothing major, just a tiger I did.

Hopefully I will have many more things in the next month, as my wall at the gallery that I show at is mostly empty. I do need ideas though. Anything you guys would like to see? Any challenges, anything? Name your favorite animal, or something. I'd appreciate it :)

New Wallet
This was my first attempt at using sumofcitadels's cutting-things-out method. My old duct tape wallet was falling apart, so I decided to make a new once. It's really just a cardholder since that's all I need. Since I work with bugs, I used those designs. It didn't turn out too well, but I'm all right with it as a first attempt. Also, the little bits are starting to fray because I keep forgetting to cover it with clear duct tape.

Pictures-- Sorry About the Quality!Collapse )

Anybody up for a discussion comparing methods? Also, bonus points if anyone can identify the bugs. They ARE accurate to taxonomic order. ;-)
